I’m here to put your mind at ease. If you’re a new client to Pawsam Paws you may have a few questions about how the grooming process works. I invite you to take a few moments to browse through my frequently asked questions below. Should you not find the answer to a specific question please feel free to contact me.
Frequently Asked Questions

It’s important to have your puppy groomed as soon as possible so they can get used to and learn to love the grooming experience. I recommend they come in two weeks after their last set of vaccinations. All puppies under the age of 6 months must have an introduction with me before having a full groom. This is so that we can assess their confidence and behaviour and introduce them to the sights and sounds of the salon, ensuring all future visits are stress free.
You can find estimated treatment times on my Services page, but please keep in mind that the actual duration may vary depending on your dog’s coat length and condition. I’ll give you a call before the session wraps up to let you know when your pup will be ready for pickup.
My pricing takes into account several factors, including your dog’s breed, coat length and condition, skin health, temperament, age, and grooming history. You’ll receive an exact quote during your pre-treatment consultation, but the prices listed on my Services page can be used as a guide.
Dogs over 25kg may not be suitable for Pawsam Paws grooming. Please contact to discuss further.
The frequency of dog grooming visits depends on the breed, coat type, and lifestyle of your dog, but generally, short-haired dogs may need grooming every 8-12 weeks, while long-haired dogs may require visits every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting and maintain coat health. Brushing your long-haired dog daily can give you a longer gap between professional grooming visits.
Grooming can be stressful and may reveal or worsen health issues. If urgent veterinary care is needed, we will attempt to contact you before seeking treatment. All costs are the owner’s responsibility.
By using our services, you confirm your dog is up to date on vaccinations for canine parvovirus, distemper, Leptospirosis, and infectious hepatitis. Proof and vet details must be provided upon request.
If fleas are found, grooming will likely cease, and you will need to collect your dog. A surcharge of £10 will be applied to cover costs for disinfection of our premises. Tick removal incurs a £5 charge.
While we take great care, minor cuts or nicks can occur, especially with uncooperative dogs. If a dog resists grooming, we may stop for safety reasons.
If a coat is severely matted, I may shave it per the “Animal Welfare Act 2006” This may cause skin irritation or uneven regrowth, for which I am not liable. Extra charges apply due to time and equipment wear. If grooming exceeds the scheduled time, an additional 1-hour appointment (£25) will be required.
Owners must disclose any history of aggression. We may refuse service and charge a £10 aggression fee. Owners are liable for damages or medical costs if a bite occurs.
